How it began…
When I met my husband in 2012, my travel resume was quite limited. To be honest, beyond going to the beach, travel was never something that interested me. Due to the nature of his job, it felt like Adam had been EVERYWHERE and I must admit, I was intrigued. We took our first trip to Paris about six months after we met, and within the first hour, I was hooked. By the time we got back we were already planning a trip to Australia.
Travel has made me so grateful for this beautiful planet. It also has made me realize we may live in various places and speak different languages, but we really have more in common than I perceived before beginning exploring. I always come back with a new appreciation for the knowledge I’ve gained and the people I’ve met.
Travel is also a really effective way to learn more about your own weaknesses. I like to be on time and I often like to be in a bit of control. Others may describe ‘a bit’ as ‘A LOT’ =) When there is a thunderstorm in Chicago, 30 minutes before your departure, both of those things go out the window! The mantra Adam has taught me over the last few years is “It will all work out.” And shockingly, it always does. I’ve tried to come home from trips learning these life lessons and I work on applying them to everyday life. I’ll admit; I’m still a work in progress.
How I got here…
Over the years people have asked me about favorite places or ideas on where to eat, what to pack, and I often find myself combing through old emails trying to remember. So, I started this blog with the idea of sharing our tips and tricks and maybe a bit selfishly as a good way to be able to relive our trips! While I’ve thought about it for a long time, I unfortunately didn’t always document along the way so I will be playing some catch up with some of our older trips.
About the blog name…
I still have a day job and a life that doesn’t involve dragging a suitcase through the airport on a daily basis, so my curation might be a little unique to any other travel sites. When I’m not traveling I’m at home catering to, who my husband would jokingly call the real love of my life, Mabel. Mabel is our seven-year-old English Bulldog. Mabel is about 55 pounds of snuggles and attitude combined into one. In fact, she’s got a page dedicated just to her story! So, if you follow along, get ready to see ideas for happy hour in Thailand and a bathing bulldog if it is a random Tuesday!
Welcome to the adventure!
